Exports

Exports connect Cloudaware FinOps to the rest of your analytics and finance landscape. You can share curated cost dashboards and reports with BI tools, data warehouses, and finance/ITFM systems while keeping Cloudaware as the system of record for cost calculations and allocation. This guide describes common export options for FinOps data, typical sharing patterns for Finance and BI teams, and key considerations for scheduling, delivery, and governance.

Export Options

Common export mechanisms include:

  • Report exports – ad‑hoc or scheduled exports of Salesforce Reports to CSV, Excel, or email attachments.

  • Dashboard snapshots – scheduled dashboard emails that provide visual summaries without exposing raw data.

  • APIs and integrations – programmatic access to cost and allocation data via Cloudaware APIs or integration packages.

Choose the mechanism based on whether consumers need raw data (for BI/ITFM) or summarized insights (for leadership updates).

Sharing with Finance and BI

Typical patterns:

  • Finance and accounting

    • Export period‑end cost by BU, cost center, account, or customer for reconciliation and accruals.

    • Provide effective cost views that include amortized commitments and discounts.

  • FP&A and BI teams

    • Feed curated cost datasets into data warehouses and BI tools for combined analysis with revenue, usage, or customer data.

    • Use consistent dimensions (BU, product, customer, region) aligned with your Business Mapping.

Coordinate with finance and BI stakeholders to agree on who owns downstream transformations and how often data should be refreshed.

Scheduling and Governance

When scheduling exports:

  • Align export frequency with decision cycles (for example, weekly operational reviews, monthly closes, quarterly planning).

  • Use secure delivery channels and access controls that match the sensitivity of cost data.

  • Keep an inventory of scheduled exports and recipients to avoid uncontrolled spread of CSVs and conflicting data copies.
