Cloudaware CMDB Core

Cloudaware CMDB Core is a Cloudaware-native CMDB deployment model designed for teams that need centralized infrastructure visibility and integrations without a Salesforce-based operating layer.

CMDB Core collects and normalizes data from public clouds, private and on-premises environments, security tools, and business data sources. The collected data is stored in the Cloudaware Data Warehouse and exposed through the Cloudaware UI, MCP, external BI tools, and API access.

CMDB Core uses the same Cloudaware collection and integration framework as CMDB Enterprise, while providing a simpler access model with daily data refreshes and no requirement for Salesforce user licenses.

Architecture

CMDB Core uses a Cloudaware-native architecture for data collection, normalization, storage, and access.

The main components are:

  • Collection Engine — discovers infrastructure through integrations and normalizes collected data.
  • Data Warehouse — stores centralized inventory and relationship data.
  • Cloudaware UI — provides access to CMDB data through Cloudaware.
  • MCP access — exposes Cloudaware data to supported AI clients and agents.
  • External BI — allows CMDB data to be analyzed in external business intelligence tools.
  • API — enables programmatic access to CMDB data.
  • Marimo Notebooks — provide notebook-based analytics for CMDB data using Python and SQL.

CMDB Core supports data from:

  • Public clouds
  • Private and on-premises environments
  • Security tools
  • Business data sources

Data is refreshed every 24 hours.

CMDB Core vs. CMDB Enterprise

CMDB Core and CMDB Enterprise use the same Cloudaware collection framework and support all available integrations. The main difference is the operating layer built around the collected CMDB data.

CMDB Enterprise adds Salesforce-native analytics, reporting, automation, governance, customization, and granular access control. CMDB Core focuses on centralized CMDB data, standard integrations, and access through Cloudaware and external tools.

BI Analytics with Marimo Notebooks

CMDB Core provides analytics through Marimo Notebooks, allowing teams to explore CMDB data, write Python and SQL-based analyses, and share reproducible notebook workflows without relying on Salesforce Analytics Studio.

Marimo notebooks are reactive Python notebooks stored as plain .py files, which makes them easier to version, review, and run as scripts or apps. Use Marimo Notebooks in CMDB Core for inventory analysis, relationship exploration, data quality checks, operational reporting, and custom dashboards.

For more information, see the official Marimo documentation:

tip

Use Cloudaware's built-in dashboards through a preconfigured Marimo instance, or bring your own analytics tools and preferred AI model to build custom dashboards from scratch.

When to choose CMDB Core

CMDB Core is best suited for teams that need:

  • Core CMDB visibility with daily data refreshes
  • Centralized infrastructure inventory and relationships
  • Access to Cloudaware integrations without a Salesforce-based architecture
  • MCP or API access to CMDB data
  • Existing external BI tools such as Grafana or Looker Studio
  • External automation tools such as n8n
  • A simpler, lower-cost user access model

Choose CMDB Enterprise instead when your organization requires Salesforce-native dashboards and reports, advanced workflow automation, granular permissions, compliance certificates, governance workflows, or UI-based customization of CMDB objects and fields.
