Patching Tags
Use this cheat sheet to quickly identify the Cloudaware tags that affect Patch Management behavior.

cloudaware:PatchingMaintenance | NoReboot | Patches tagged instances without rebooting them. The instance owner must reboot manually if needed. |
cloudaware:PatchingMaintenance | CustomReboot | Enables custom reboot sequencing with cloudaware:PatchGroup. |
cloudaware:PatchingMaintenance | UpToDate* | Includes tagged instances in ad-hoc maintenance to bring them to the latest available patch level. |
cloudaware:PatchGroup | 1 to 6 | Defines the reboot order for custom reboot maintenance. Patch Group 1 reboots first, then 2, and so on. |
*The cloudaware:PatchingMaintenance=UpToDate tag requires a plugin that is disabled by default. Contact Cloudaware Support support@cloudaware.com to have it enabled.
Common Patterns
Exclude an Instance from Patching
Apply this tag to instances that should not be patched:
cloudaware:PatchingMaintenance = Exclude
Patch Without Rebooting
Apply this tag when patching should run but the instance owner will handle the reboot manually:
cloudaware:PatchingMaintenance = NoReboot
Use Custom Reboot Order
Apply both tags to control reboot sequencing:
cloudaware:PatchingMaintenance = CustomReboot
cloudaware:PatchGroup = 1
Patch groups reboot one at a time at 30-minute intervals. If cloudaware:PatchGroup is present but has no value, the instance defaults to Patch Group 1.
Bring an Instance Up to Date During Ad-Hoc Maintenance
Apply this tag to instances that should be patched to the latest available patch level outside the regular schedule:
cloudaware:PatchingMaintenance = UpToDate
Remove the UpToDate value after ad-hoc maintenance if the instance should return to normal scheduled patching.
