The notes summarize major product changes, including new cloud services, integrations, CMDB object coverage, Compliance Engine benchmarks and policies, FinOps capabilities, and operational improvements. Use this page to review selected Cloudaware release highlights by year.

2025

Winter '25

  • VMware vCenter resources became attachable in Cloudaware Virtual Applications, along with additional AWS objects for IAM, RDS, and Redshift.
  • Azure Saving Plans support was added for tracking plans and utilization similarly to Azure Reservations.
  • Azure AI Services discovery was added under Azure AI Account, with per-service identification by kind.
  • Azure Lighthouse support was added for Service Provider Offers and Delegations, including reporting for managed subscriptions.
  • AWS Well-Architected Tool objects were added, including Workloads, Lenses, Reviews, Profiles, and Answers.
  • Okta logs support is added in Conflux.
  • Azure Application Gateway SSL field coverage was expanded.

Spring '25

  • Cloudaware CMDB App became available in the ServiceNow Store, with Cloudaware CMDB data populated into custom ServiceNow tables.
  • Cloudaware was recognized as an AWS Software Solution Partner for AWS Inspector.
  • Amazon Bedrock discovery with cost data was added.
  • AWS License Manager support was added to track licenses, expirations, and alerts.
  • Conflux added log types for API Gateway, One Identity syslog, and AWS GuardDuty.
  • New Relic linked accounts support was added, including polling interval visibility.
  • Sophos was added as a new integration.

Spring '24

  • AWS S3 Requester Pays became visible in CMDB at the bucket level through billing enrichment.
  • CloudWatch Agent onboarding and visibility were improved.

Summer '24

  • Azure Stack HCI support was added, including Arc Setting, Cluster, Gallery Image, NIC, Machine Link, VHD, and VM objects.
  • Azure Arc support was added for Hybrid Compute Machine, Private Endpoint Connection, and Private Link Scope.
  • Compliance Engine added Azure CIS Benchmarks v2.0.0.
  • Conflux added OneLogin logs support.
  • AWS S3 Multi-Region Access Points were added.
  • AWS Lambda Layers and Layer Versions were added, with many-to-many mapping through Function Layer Version Link.
  • AWS Service Catalog coverage was added for portfolios, provisioning artifacts, products, shares, service actions, and budget links.

Autumn '24

  • GPU metrics were added in CMDB for AWS EC2 and physical servers, including count, model, and vendor.
  • Azure Management Groups discovery was added for up to six hierarchy levels.
  • AWS Firewall Manager visibility was added for centralized WAF policies and relationships.
  • AWS Inspector EC2 vulnerability data was added to EC2 instance records.
  • AWS QuickSight users, roles, and cost visibility were added.
  • AWS VPC IPAM visibility and reporting were added.
  • Azure PostgreSQL and MySQL Flexible Servers can be filtered by Deployment Mode.
  • Cost Management added cost metrics for AWS CloudWatch and CloudWatch Logs, plus support for aws:* billing tags for allocation.
  • New Relic Synthetic Monitor object was added.

Winter '23

  • Support for Custom Fiscal Periods in FinOps datasets and dashboards.
  • AWS amortized costs analytics were added.
  • TunHub support for VMware vCenter was added, including Breeze-based vulnerability scanning support through identityBiosUuid mapping.

Winter '22

  • Breeze added a Java discovery fact to identify vulnerable Apache Log4j jars.
  • Compliance Engine added the CIS Kubernetes Benchmark for OS services CIS scans.
  • Virtual Applications expanded attachable objects, including EFS File System, EKS Cluster and Pod, EMR Cluster, Kinesis Firehose Destination and Stream, KMS Key, MQ Broker, RDS Cluster, and Secrets Manager Secret.

Spring '22

  • Virtual Applications received a refreshed UI for cloud and tier navigation and CI search.
  • Additional attachable objects were added, including API Gateway REST API, AppStream Fleet, CodeBuild Project, ECR Repository, Glue Crawler, EC2 Launch Configuration, CloudFormation Stack, and SageMaker Notebook Instance.
  • New services were added for AWS DataSync, AWS Kendra, AWS Service Quotas, AWS Shield Advanced, and Azure Log Analytics.
  • Compliance Engine added AWS Glue Catalog policies for public access and MFA delete controls.
  • AWS Direct Connect coverage was expanded with Lag, Gateway, Gateway Association, Gateway Attachment, and updated Connection and Virtual Interface fields.
  • AWS Lambda detection was added for reserved concurrency settings that route asynchronous invocations to a dead-letter queue when concurrency is set to zero.
  • AWS SNS Topic tags were added for application attachment and reporting.
  • Azure Cosmos DB Resource hierarchy and utilization metrics were added.
  • CyberArk and MongoDB Atlas were added as new integrations.
  • Rancher API integration was updated to support programmatic create, update, and remove operations.

Summer '22

  • AWS Organizations billing discovery was enhanced for member accounts with CUR through Master Payer ID.
  • CMDB added primary billing source selection.
  • Compliance Engine added Lambda policies and Security Hub-aligned policies for cloud security posture checks.
  • New services were added for AWS Comprehend, EventBridge, SWF, and Transcribe.
  • Azure Cosmos DB Resource hierarchy and utilization metrics were consolidated to help identify over-provisioned accounts.
  • Azure Public SSH Key discovery was added for VM login visibility.

Autumn '22

  • Cloudaware became available on Microsoft Azure Marketplace for consolidated procurement and billing.
  • SNMP-enabled devices became attachable to Cloudaware Applications, with related network interfaces attached automatically.
  • New services were added for Amazon Lex, Amazon Polly, and GCP Security Command Center.
  • Azure Compute added VM Scale Set and VM Scale Set ID fields on Azure VM to identify VMs that belong to flexible VMSS.
  • Azure VM Time Created was added.

2021

Winter '21

  • Compliance Engine added CIS Microsoft Azure Foundations v1.1.0.
  • Setup and developer console links were restricted to admin users.
  • AWS Blockchain was added as a new service.
  • TunHub secure proxy was added for private infrastructure.
  • G Suite and Google Workspace integration was added for user visibility in Google Cloud projects.
  • AWS Snowball, AWS X-Ray, Azure Application Gateway, Azure ExpressRoute, Azure App Service, and Qualys were updated.
  • Zabbix integration fields were added on Azure VM, Google GCE Instance, and Cloudaware Physical Server.
  • Compliance Engine added Policy Revisions with compare and diff, Diff Utility, benchmark filters, utility classes, and Heroku policy templates.

Spring '21

  • Azure certificate-based API authentication was added through the Azure Application object.
  • Policy Templates added HIPAA labels for filtering.
  • Tag Analyzer added filters by caTags and JSON tags.
  • Custom fields gained editable Help Text.
  • Virtual Applications allowed editing Application and Application Tier names.
  • New services were added for Azure SQL Virtual Machines, AWS License Manager, AWS Backup, and AWS Global Accelerator.
  • AWS API Gateway was updated.
  • Rally was added as a new integration.

Summer '21

  • AWS EC2 Instance Metadata Service v2 was supported, with reports to track IMDS version usage.
  • Public list view creation was restricted to admins, collectors, or users with the listViewEditor permission.
  • AWS Account Region added EBS default encryption visibility with KMS key and alias fields.
  • AWS IAM added OpenID Connect Provider, EC2 to IAM Instance Profile relations, and Instance Profile ARN on EC2 Instance.
  • AWS EC2 networking added Transit Gateway, Transit Gateway VPC Route Table, Transit Gateway Peering, Transit Gateway Route Tables, and Prefix Lists.
  • AWS S3 added Object Lock settings and Bucket Key Enabled visibility.
  • AWS Athena added engine version visibility.
  • Azure Storage added 30-day utilization metrics on Storage Accounts.
  • Snowflake was added as a new integration.

Winter '20

  • Inline editing for list views was added, including single-record and multi-record editing.
  • Cloudaware Navigator v2 was introduced, including home, search, recent items, sidebars, custom objects, and improved layouts.

Spring '20

  • Azure Kubernetes Service was added as a new service.
  • Azure App Service coverage expanded across App Service, Plan, Backup, Certificate, Deployment, Domain, Environment, Environment Capacity, and Restriction Rule objects.
  • AWS S3 Control coverage was added for Access Points, policy status, and public access block.
  • AWS DMS coverage expanded across Certificates, Connections, Endpoints, Migration Tasks, Replication Instances, Subnet Groups, links, tagging, and billing for replication instances.
  • AWS Systems Manager coverage expanded across Hybrid Activation, Maintenance Windows, Parameters, Ops Items, and related links.
  • AWS Storage Gateway coverage expanded and File Share was added.
  • AWS Cost Explorer added Savings Plan Utilizations and Forecast for Account.
  • AWS Kinesis Streams support was updated with bug fixes.
