Data Manager
Data Manager is the Salesforce CRM Analytics workspace where administrators manage connections, dataflows/recipes, and usage for Analytics Studio. In the context of Cloudaware Advanced Analytics, it is the primary place to verify that datasets are being populated correctly before they are explored in lenses and dashboards in the Analytics Studio workspace.
Role in Advanced Analytics
In Cloudaware:
- Ingestion pipelines collect events and metrics from CMDB, monitoring, compliance, and cost modules.
- These pipelines write into Salesforce CRM Analytics datasets that are visible and monitored in Data Manager.
- Data Manager shows whether those datasets are refreshing successfully and how much CRM Analytics capacity (rows, storage, external upload volume) is being used.
Use this page together with:
- Event Sources – what data is collected.
- Data Health – how Cloudaware validates freshness and completeness.
- Limits & Quotas – org‑level CRM Analytics usage limits.
Key Areas in Data Manager
Typical areas Cloudaware administrators and users use include (in the left sidebar):
- Jobs Monitor - a log of dataflow and recipe runs, with statuses and error details to support troubleshooting.
- Data Assets – a view across all datasets, including datasets created with recipes and datasets uploaded from external files.
- Recipes – orchestrations that transform raw objects and external data into analytics‑ready datasets. Failed or long‑running jobs here can block updates to dashboards.
- Usage – high‑level metrics such as total dataset rows and external data uploads that help you stay within CRM Analytics limits.
- Connections – data sources where CRM Analytics connections to Salesforce objects or external systems (for example, BigQuery) are configured and monitored.
- Data Templates – prepackaged assets and logic tailored for specific use cases. A data template can include one or more of the following assets: data connectors, data prep recipes, and datasets. Currently, only one data template is available: Sentiment Analysis Template.
- Analytics Studio – access to the Analytics Studio workspace. Currently, only one data template is available: Sentiment Analysis Template.
- Manage Dataflows (legacy) – a legacy version of the Data Manager workspace where Dataflows used to be created.
note
Use Manage Dataflows (legacy) only when you need to work with Dataflows. This applies to existing customers whose Historical Trends still rely on Dataflows. See also: Why Should I Use Recipes Instead of Dataflows?
Typical Workflow
When onboarding Advanced Analytics:
- Confirm that relevant event and metric sources are enabled in Cloudaware (see Event Sources).
- In Data Manager, verify that:
- Connections are valid.
- Recipes are running on schedule.
- Target datasets show recent successful refreshes.
- Check the Usage section to ensure you are within supported limits and that growth trends are understood.
- Once datasets are healthy, use Analytics Studio to build or update lenses and dashboards.
