Maintenance Windows

Use this guide to define maintenance windows for Patch Management based on environment, application, and business timing requirements.

Defining Windows

Define maintenance windows by:

  • Environment (for example, Prod vs. non‑Prod).
  • Application or service.
  • Time of day and day of week, in the relevant time zones.

Coordinate maintenance windows with Change Management calendars and business stakeholders so they reflect real availability.

Using Windows in Jobs

When you schedule a patch job, you can:

  • Require that it runs only within a defined maintenance window.
  • Allow different windows for canary vs. broad rollout.
  • Combine windows with blackout settings to prevent conflicts with other changes.
