GCP Monitoring

Google Cloud Monitoring provides metrics and uptime checks for Google Cloud resources.

This guide explains how to work with metrics sourced from Google Cloud Monitoring in Cloudaware.

What Unified Monitoring Uses

Examples of data sourced from GCP Monitoring:

• Compute Engine metrics (CPU, disk, network).
• Load balancer and HTTP(S) proxy metrics.
• Cloud SQL and other managed database metrics.
• Uptime checks and synthetic monitoring results.

Prerequisites

• Ensure Cloud Monitoring is enabled for the services you want to monitor.
• GCP cloud integration is configured in Cloudaware. See the Google Cloud Integration.
• Service account with permissions to read metrics (Monitoring Viewer or equivalent) for relevant projects or metrics scopes.
• Tagging/labeling strategy that aligns with CMDB attributes.

High‑Level Setup

1. Configure or verify the GCP integration in Cloudaware.
2. Confirm that Google Cloud resources appear in CMDB and metrics are available.
3. Use reports, list views and dashboards that use GCP metrics.
