Azure Monitor

Azure Monitor is Microsoft Azure’s platform for collecting metrics and logs from Azure resources. Cloudaware Unified Monitoring consumes Azure Monitor metrics to provide health and performance visibility for your Azure workloads.

This guide explains how to work with these metrics in Cloudaware.

What Unified Monitoring Uses

Examples of data sourced from Azure Monitor:

  • VM metrics such as CPU, memory (where available), and disk.
  • Platform metrics for services like Application Gateway, Azure SQL, Storage Accounts, and others.
  • Diagnostic metrics exported to Log Analytics where supported.

Prerequisites

  • Azure cloud integration is configured in Cloudaware. See Microsoft Azure Integration.
  • Diagnostic Settings are enabled for resources you want to monitor.
  • Permissions that allow Cloudaware to read metrics and relevant metadata from subscriptions and resource groups.

High‑Level Setup

  1. Configure or verify the Azure integration in Cloudaware.
  2. Confirm that the target Azure resources appear in CMDB and Azure Monitor metrics are available.
  3. Build reports, list views and dashboards that use Azure Monitor metrics.
