Evaluation Cadence
Evaluation cadence determines how frequently policies run and findings are refreshed.
Scheduling Options
Policies can be:
- Scheduled – run automatically on a fixed cadence (for example, hourly, daily, weekly).
- Executed on demand – run manually when you need an immediate refresh.
You can schedule policies individually or in bulk (for example, all policies in a benchmark pack).
Choosing Cadences
When choosing cadences, consider:
- Risk and impact – high‑risk controls (for example, public exposure, critical encryption requirements) may warrant more frequent runs.
- Volume – broad policies and benchmark packs that touch many resources may be run less frequently to control load.
- Change velocity – environments with frequent changes benefit from more frequent evaluations.
Many organizations combine:
- Frequent runs for a small set of top‑priority controls.
- Daily or weekly runs for broader benchmark coverage.
Performance and Limits
Each evaluation run:
- Processes input objects in batches.
- Updates findings and timestamps.
- Generates events that can trigger notifications or workflows.
