Alerts & Notifications
Alerts and notifications help you surface important CMDB changes to the right people and systems without flooding them with noise. Use CMDB scopes, tags, and ownership metadata to focus on high‑impact changes.
Notification Channels
Cloudaware can surface change‑related signals through multiple channels, for example:
- Email or ticketing‑style alerts for high‑priority or policy‑relevant changes.
- Event streams and webhooks that deliver change events to external receivers and automation platforms. See Webhooks & Events for webhook concepts.
- Dashboards and widgets showing recent changes for selected scopes.
Exact channels and integration options depend on how your organization has configured Cloudaware and connected tools.
Routing and Scoping
Effective notifications start with proper scoping:
- Use CMDB queries to define which CIs are considered critical (for example, production, customer‑facing, or compliance‑scoped systems).
- Route infrastructure changes to the teams responsible for those assets (ownership, application, and business unit tags can all be used for routing).
- Distinguish between informative changes (for example, scaling events) and changes that should trigger investigation (for example, security group modifications or disabled backups).
Align routing rules with Change Management policies so notifications follow your organization’s requirements for approvals, records, and documentation.
Example Use Cases
- Notify the security team when network or identity‑related settings change on internet‑facing resources.
- Alert application owners when critical CIs are terminated or moved between environments.
- Create tickets automatically when monitoring, backup, or vulnerability coverage is removed from a CI.
- Send a daily or weekly digest of significant infrastructure changes for audit and stakeholder review.
