Oracle Cloud Prerequisites

Cloudaware connects to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) using an OCI user with an API key and a corresponding key pair generated in Cloudaware. Before you start the setup steps, make sure the following prerequisites are in place.

Cloudaware Prerequisites

  • Access to a Cloudaware account.
  • A user with access to the Admin Console and permissions to manage cloud accounts, organizations, and integrations (Cloudaware Administrator).

OCI Tenancy & Identity

  • An OCI tenancy to onboard.
  • Permissions in OCI to:
    • Create or manage an IAM user for Cloudaware.
    • Upload API keys for that user.
    • Create and manage IAM groups and policies at the tenancy level.
  • Access to required OCI identifiers:
    • Tenancy OCID.
    • User OCID (for the user that will hold the API key).
    • Region(s) where resources are deployed and where the API calls will be made.

Key Pairs and API Keys

  • Ability to upload an API signing key for the OCI user.
  • Cloudaware will generate and store a key pair; you will need to:
    • Upload the public key to the OCI user as an API key.
    • Configure the key pair and related details when adding the tenancy in Cloudaware.

Policies & Compartments

  • A plan for which compartments Cloudaware should have visibility into:
    • Full‑tenancy read access, or
    • Limited to specific compartments.
  • Authority to create or update tenancy‑level IAM policies that grant read access to the Cloudaware user’s group (see Least-Privilege Policies).

Network & Connectivity

  • Cloudaware connects to OCI public APIs over the internet; no inbound connectivity from OCI to Cloudaware is required.
  • Ensure that your security policies allow outbound access from Cloudaware to the OCI API endpoints for the relevant regions.

Once these prerequisites are met, continue with Setup to generate keys, configure OCI, and onboard the tenancy in Cloudaware.
