Google Billing Verification
Use this guide to verify Google Cloud-specific billing integrations in Cloudaware, including BigQuery exports and legacy Cloud Storage exports.
BigQuery Billing Export
- Billing export configuration.
- In the Google Cloud console, open Billing and select the billing account.
- Go to Billing export → BigQuery export.
- Confirm that the export used by Cloudaware is:
- Enabled.
- Configured for the expected billing account.
- Targeting the expected project and dataset.
- Producing the expected Standard usage cost and/or Detailed usage cost tables.
- BigQuery dataset contents.
- In BigQuery, open the dataset used for billing export.
- Verify that billing export tables exist, such as
gcp_billing_export_v1_*orgcp_billing_export_resource_v1_*. - Check table metadata or recent rows to confirm ongoing updates.
- Integration status in Cloudaware.
- In Cloudaware, go to Admin → Google Billing.
- Confirm that the billing integration shows:
- Status: green.
- Recent updates aligned with the export frequency.
- Cost consistency.
- In Cost Management dashboards, filter to:
- Provider: Google Cloud (or GCP).
- Scope and time range matching Google Cloud Billing.
- Compare total cost and major dimensions, such as projects, services, SKUs, labels, and resource-level costs, using the same filters.
- In Cost Management dashboards, filter to:
Standard and Detailed Export Coverage
- Standard export.
- Confirm that Standard usage cost is enabled when you need historical analytics and account-level cost reporting.
- Verify that the Standard integration is added in Cloudaware if it is required for your reporting workflows.
- Detailed export.
- Confirm that Detailed usage cost is enabled when you need costs on individual Google Cloud resources.
- In Cloudaware, verify that Detailed is selected as the Cost Fields Source if resource-level cost fields should appear on CMDB objects.
Legacy Cloud Storage Export
See also: Billing Export to Cloud Storage (Legacy)
- File export configuration.
- In the Google Cloud console, open Billing → Billing export and verify the File export configuration.
- Confirm that the export targets the expected Cloud Storage bucket and path.
- Cloud Storage bucket contents.
- Open the bucket and verify that CSV billing files are present for recent periods.
- Check object timestamps to confirm ongoing delivery.
- Integration status in Cloudaware.
- In Cloudaware, go to Admin → Google Billing.
- Confirm that the Storage-based billing integration is enabled and green.
Data Freshness
- Allow time for Google Cloud to publish billing export updates.
- Allow time for Cloudaware to complete the collection cycle.
- Validate against a completed day or month rather than the current partial day.
- If Google Cloud posts late adjustments or updates prior periods, Cloudaware reflects those changes after the updated export data is ingested.
