Breeze Agent 3.x Overview

Breeze Agent 3.x is the current major generation of Cloudaware’s OS-level agent. It retains the scheduled execution model used by Breeze Agent 1.x while modernizing installation, platform support, connectivity, self-update behavior, and day-to-day operations.

Why Upgrade to Breeze Agent 3.x​

Breeze Agent 3.x provides:

  • Modernized installation and self-update behavior for long-lived agent deployments.
  • Support for newer operating systems and processor architectures, such as Amazon Linux 2023 and recent Debian/Ubuntu releases.
  • Improved TLS, proxy, certificate, and cloud instance metadata handling.
  • Expanded command-line tools for troubleshooting, upgrades, and automation.

What’s New in 3.x​

Compared with Breeze Agent 1.x, Breeze Agent 3.x introduces the following changes:

  • Unified installers and self‑healing – installers bootstrap to the latest 3.x release after first contact with Breeze Server, and the agent can upgrade itself in place.
  • Extended platform coverage – expanded support across Linux distributions, Windows Server 2012+, and macOS 12+ on both Intel and Apple Silicon.
  • Improved cloud integrations – better use of instance metadata and expanded coverage for platforms such as Oracle Cloud.
  • CLI enhancements – subcommands such as breeze env, richer options on breeze run, and improved scheduler, status, troubleshoot, and upgrade flows.
  • Operational polish – clearer logging, improved error handling, and stronger behavior when using proxies or custom CA bundles.

What Remains the Same​

The core Breeze Agent operating model remains consistent with Breeze Agent 1.x:

  • The agent runs as a scheduled task or service and executes Breeze plugins.
  • Managed hosts initiate outbound TLS connections over TCP port 443.
  • No inbound firewall ports are required for standard agent communication.
  • The agent sends OS-level inventory and telemetry to Cloudaware CMDB.
  • Collected data supports Cloudaware capabilities such as vulnerability management, patch management, intrusion detection, and automation.
